What to Know Before Buying a Wine Rack for Your Home

Wine is a wonderful thing. It's great for entertaining guest, relaxing, complimenting a meal, or simply unwinding after a long day at work. No true wine enthusiast however would be caught dead without a wine rack. If you're in the process of buying a wine rack for your home, here's some information to help you with your decision.

There are several types of wine bottle racks available. They can be made of both metal or wood and some are vertical racks, while others are horizontal.

1. Vertical Racks - Vertical wine bottle racks aren't usually the best choice. Vertical wine racks aren't recommended because the cork will dry out eventually and shrink up after a certain period of time. When this happens, it causes the wine to be exposed to air and it is eventually ruined. Vertical racks are really only useful for short term wine storage.
2. Horizontal Racks - A horizontal wine bottle rack is a much better choice. Horizontal racks store the wine in a manner where the wine bottle cork will remain moist and swelled. This keeps your wine from going bad over time.

Horizontal racks are also very flexible and cost effective as you can always increase wine storage space by stacking additional racks.
